Planning is the foundational stage of school operations. It establishes the operational standards, school structure, and processes necessary for effective management. A well-defined planning phase ensures that all aspects of the school—academic, administrative, and operational—are aligned with strategic goals and educational standards.
School planning is subdivided into four primary areas: Curriculum Planning, Staff Recruitment Planning, Student Enrollment Planning, and Operational Planning. The School Performance Accelerator (SPA) is designed to guide and streamline these processes, improving efficiency, accountability, and performance.
Curriculum planning is the first stage of school planning, ensuring that operations align with educational standards. At this stage, classes and subjects are structured according to the prescribed curriculum. For example:
Primary School (Primary 1–6): Elementary Mathematics, Elementary English, etc.
Junior Secondary School (JSS 1–3) & Senior Secondary School (SS 1–3): Mathematics, English Language, and other subjects.
SPA includes an inbuilt curriculum design tool that aligns with official educational standards. This allows school administrators to group classes, allocate subjects, and modify curricula dynamically to meet evolving educational requirements.
Staff recruitment planning is a critical phase in school operations because staff performance directly affects the success of the institution. The planning process involves both recruitment and task assignment, ensuring that staff adhere to operational standards. Staff are categorized into two groups:
Teaching Staff: Responsible for delivering academic services and maintaining close interactions with students.
Administrative Staff: Manage school operations and ensure activities align with strategic goals. Examples include Principal, Vice-Principal, Human Resource Manager, Registrar, IT Staff, Financial Officer, and Facilities Manager.
Recruitment in SPA is a structured, automated process comprising job placement and application management:
Job placement allows administrators to define roles and responsibilities within the system. To create a new job placement in SPA:
Navigate to the Recruitment dropdown and select Job Placement.
Click Create New and fill in:
Job Title & Description
Application Type: Teaching or Administration
Application Age Limit
Specific Application Role
Application Status: Open or Closed (only one open application per role is allowed)
Click Create Recruitment to activate the recruitment process.
Applicants can apply via two methods:
On-the-Site Process: Applicants apply directly at the school premises. Applications are submitted through dashboards managed by HR, Principal, or School Owner.
Cloud-Based Process: Applicants can submit applications online, from any location. Schools upload application forms to the cloud, allowing remote submissions.
After applications are submitted, candidates undergo an Evaluation Test, which includes:
Successful candidates are hired and onboarded automatically by SPA, which assigns tasks and sends login credentials. Candidates who do not meet the standards are marked as Rejected, maintaining transparency and efficiency. This automated process reduces recruitment time by up to 70% compared to conventional methods.
Student enrollment planning determines how students are admitted and integrated into the school system. This stage directly impacts the academic standards and effectiveness of service delivery.
SPA streamlines enrollment with professional workflows for both on-the-site and cloud-based admission processes. The on-the-site enrollment process involves:
Navigate to Admission → Admission Offers.
Click Create New and fill in required information:
Class assignment
Student full name, email, phone number, date of birth, gender
Country, state, enrollment type (Day or Boarding)
Disability status
Once the information is submitted, administrators review the application. Accepted students are automatically onboarded, receive login credentials, and are assigned to the appropriate teachers and classes. SPA ensures that enrollment is efficient, accurate, and aligned with operational standards.
Operational planning governs the day-to-day activities of the school, including:
Daily attendance tracking for staff and students
Timetable management
Staff schedules and teacher-subject assignments
Operational planning must remain flexible to accommodate changes in curriculum, staffing, and student performance. Together with curriculum, recruitment, and enrollment planning, operational planning forms the foundation of a successful school management system. SPA ensures these processes are integrated, streamlined, and monitored, improving school performance and compliance.
